Customs in Puerto Rico

Customs in Puerto Rico

When departing Puerto Rico to the mainland, your bags will be inspected by the US Dept of Agriculture before departure. Generally the same rules apply as when returning to the United States from a foreign country, although certain local fruits such as avocado, papaya, coconut and plantain may be brought back; mangos, sour sop, passion fruit, and plants potted in soil may not. In any event, all agricultural items will be checked for disease . If you are carrying prescription drugs (especially prescription narcotics) with you, you must have the original prescription with you, or a letter from your physician. Cruise ship passengers with ship luggage tags are exempt from customs screenings.
