NJ Transit offers train service from Philadelphia's 30th Street Station to Atlantic City, with several stops in New Jersey. One-way fare is $10, and the ride takes about an hour and a half. The train also has several stops along the way, including Cherry Hill, Lindenwold (with connections to PATCO Speedline), Atco, Hammonton, Egg Harbor City and Absecon. Once in Atlantic City at the Atlantic City Rail Terminal, free Jitney shuttles are provided to take rail patrons to area casinos. Taxi service is available, and within two blocks is the Atlantic City Bus Terminal.
Atlantic City Express Service offers express train services on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from New York City and Newark. Fares average around $30 each way for coach and $50 each way for first class. The ride takes about 2½ hours and the train also has a lounge car with a full bar.
If you want to take the same route the cheap way, you can take the Atlantic City Rail Line to Lindenwold for the PATCO train. Transfer to the PATCO to Walter Rand Transportation Center for the RiverLINE light rail to Trenton. From there, take the Northeast Corridor Line to Penn Station, New York. The ride isn't as comfortable, and takes longer but costs about $21 each way. This is the only way to go to New York City on weekdays.
