Hasanuddin International Airport (IATA: UPG) is located 20 km from Makassar and has flights to Jakarta, Yogyakarta, Surabaya, Denpasar, Banjarmasin, Balikpapan, Kendari, Palu, Manado, Gorontalo, Ambon, Ternate, Manokwari, Sorong, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore and Jayapura.
Fares start at about Rp 500,000 on Lion Air from Denpasar.
A taxi to the city should cost about Rp 70,000 if arranged directly with the driver. The official airport charge is Rp 100,000. There is a free shuttle bus from the airport (bottom level) to the main road where you can catch a bemo into town for Rp 3,000.
