From Calgary, take the Trans Canada Highway (Route 1) West. The first exit to Banff is about an hour and a half from the airport.

Regular passenger trains no longer stop at Banff's historic train station, but Rocky Mountaineer Vacations visits regularly in the summer and fall, with some winter trips available if you are interested. You can take VIA Rail train service to Edmonton, and then either bus, or rent a car and drive to Banff.
