One can reach Zhongshan by:
Metro bus or taxi from Zhuhai
Long distance bus from most cities in Guangdong Province.
Ferry from Hong Kong.
The Zhuhai-Guangzhou intercity rail started operations in 2011 with multiple stations in Zhongshan. Trains run at top speeds of 125mph-150mph. 20% of the trains are express trains that skip stations for even faster transit time.
The main north-south line spans 8 stations in the Zhongshan area starting at Xiaolan in the north to Mingzhu in the south. This is a fast method of travel between various Zhongshan towns.
The main line is fully built out from the north direction. It is a �15/30min ride from Guangzhou South Railway Station (transfer point for Guangzhou Metro and HSR trains from Wuhan/Changsha) to the first Zhongshan station of Xiaolan.
The main line south from Zhuhai is still under construction with only 2 Zhuhai stations in operation. At the present, it is a 30 minute bus ride from Macau Gongbei border crossing to reach the closest Zhuhai station. Timetable for extension from Macau border crossings (both Gongbei and Hengqin) and Zhuhai Airport is currently unknown.
The spur line connects Jiangmen city and Xinhui town with the Zhongshan towns of Xiaolan and Guzhen. From Xinhui, it costs 15� for a 20 minute ride to Xiaolan.
Zhongshan does not have an airport. The Guangzhou and Zhuhai airports are easily reached, Zhuhai is closer but Guangzhou has more flights. Shenzhen, Macau and Hong Kong airports are other possibilities.
